These terms apply to the DbCat app and the website dbcat.forzens.com. By downloading or using DbCat, you agree to them.
Free to use
DbCat is free for personal and commercial use, with no license key. If we add paid features in the future, everything that’s free today will stay free.
What you may not do
- Redistribute, sell or rent DbCat, or offer modified copies of it. Link to the official website or the GitHub releases page instead.
- Remove or bypass its code signing, update verification or other protections.
- Use DbCat to access databases or systems you are not authorized to access.
Your data and your actions
DbCat runs on your computer and acts on the databases you connect to. You are responsible for the statements you run, the changes you commit and the connections you configure. Keep backups of important data, and for production databases use the read-only and confirm-before-write options.
AI tools
If you enable the MCP server, changes proposed by an AI tool run only after you approve them in DbCat (or automatically, if you choose that option for a connection). Approved or automatic changes are treated as your own actions. Results produced by AI tools may be wrong, so review them before relying on them.
No warranty
DbCat is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that it will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the DbCat developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of DbCat or the website, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Third-party services
Some features work with services run by others, such as your database servers, Microsoft sign-in, GitHub and AI tools. Their own terms apply to your use of them.
Changes
We may update these terms. Changes take effect when they are posted on this page, and the date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using DbCat after a change, you accept the updated terms.
